ASET began the new year by welcoming Maliha Khan, our new Marketing & Social Media Manager. Maliha replaces Sarah Dolezilek, who after 11 years resigned to pursue another opportunity. Maliha comes to ASET from the association management world, with a special focus on digital trends and social media. She has a Marketing Certificate from Cornell University, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Communications with a special emphasis on Interpersonal and Public Relations. She is currently working towards obtaining the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). Maliha’s first official day at ASET was January 2.
Prior to joining ASET, Maliha worked as a Digital Content Specialist for a global accrediting body which focuses on specialized program accreditation for business education programs around the world. Her main responsibilities consisted of growing their online presence on social media and managing the association’s web content strategy. However, soon she advanced to the role of Digital Content Coordinator and assisted the association in embracing a content marketing strategy and plan. Some of her accomplishments include: implementing a digital recorder program to capture content at the annual conference, creating a content bank for the year, redesigning the association newsletter as the ACBSP Impact magazine, launching a website redesign to embrace the latest responsive/mobile-first trends, designing six other website properties for the association to market its events, amplifying social media engagement at the annual conference via the engagement program, and reaching the milestone of gaining 1 million impressions for their Twitter profile. In 2017, she received a scholarship to attend ASAE’s NextGen Summit, an event for leading young association professionals and was selected as one of the 20 people competitively selected to attend the Summit. She has served as Membership Chair on the Social Media Club of Kansas City’s Board and is currently a member. She is also a member of the Kansas City Direct Marketer’s Association (KCDMA) and ASAE.
In this new role, she hopes to grow ASET’s marketing efforts exponentially by revamping the current marketing plan and strategies, establishing branding guidelines, improving ASET’s social media engagement, and delivering more content to members such as this ASET News website which you’re currently exploring. Maliha said, “I highly encourage members and prospective members alike to follow ASET’s social media profiles if they’re not already. Plan on seeing a lot of activity in the next few months, especially when it comes time for the ASET 2018 Annual Conference. We’ll be live tweeting at ASET events and I hope to soon launch twitter chats on relevant topics in the Neurodiagnostic Technology field. In her free time, Maliha teaches Sunday school at her local mosque, coordinates the Young Muslims – Sisters Chapter of Kansas City, teaches social media workshops, and consults for other businesses through her digital marketing business, Khanect the Dots. She loves spending time with her family, traveling, and participating in arts and crafts.
